Welcome to SWE Climb! My name is Shawn and I’m a 50-year-old dad with over 21 years of parenting experience. I currently live with my wife, Stephanie, in Pittsburgh. Together, we raised our lovely daughter, Annie, who is about to graduate from Carnegie Mellon University next year. We couldn’t be more proud of her. Growing up, her favorite song was “The Climb” from the Hannah Montana movie, and it’s one that I’ve found to be an inspiration as well. That’s why I decided to name my blog after it. I work on this blog in my free time when I’m not working at my day job as an accountant.

What I’ve Learned As A Parent

Parenting is one of the hardest, and most rewarding, tasks a person could undertake. I’m sure you can easily relate. No matter how many books you may read about how to raise your children, it’s just not enough. Nothing will prepare you for the moment where reality hits when you take your child home for the first time, when they took their first steps, or even when they started to experience bullying at school. I’ve been through it all with my one daughter and want to share my experiences with you. My wife also often gives me inspiration and ideas for topics to write about. We’ve been one indestructible parenting team for the past two decades.

Growing Up In The Modern World

Today, children face many complicated problems and dangers that we simply did not have when we were growing up. We didn’t have to wonder what other kids might be saying about us on the Internet. Moreover, we didn’t have almost all of the knowledge in the world at our fingertips. Navigating the Internet with your child is an important part of making them feel safe and secure.
